News from Rebekah Brown in SanDiego

It's been busy since I got to San Diego!  I'm getting involved in the dance scene here and starting to promote H2O (her dance company) more and more. It has all been challenging, but I am forging ahead.

I did just finish my first official show in San Diego and it was awesome! In September I got linked up with Casey, a great girl who had a vision to create a safe space for artists, dancers, and musicians to come together and create collaborative work. I started out only choreographing but ended up taking on a co-director role in late December. We worked really hard the last month to put together a show and it turned out great! Here's a video of my latest piece if you'd like to see some cool dancing: https://youtu.be/iFyehxAKVUE.

H2O also has some exciting new opportunities on the horizon. A local studio hosts a "First Friday" event every month and we are going to perform at that in April or May; we have been accepted to perform at "Dance on the EDGE," a Street Fair/Artwalk in late April; and we have been invited to participate in the "Global Water Dances" (globalwaterdances.org) in June, a bi-yearly event where more than 80 cities perform site specific dances to raise awareness about water issues on one single day. Very cool! Now I just need to find some grant money to go along with all these performances. :-) If you have any thoughts or resources on grant money for the arts, please feel free to send them my way.

Rebekah was also member of our summer 2016 faculty  and the choreographer of Infinite Corridors seen recently at our Gala performance.  She may be contacted through Ashland Regional Ballet.
